Tonsai East can be considered the beach area past the gloriously named Chukit Resort leading to Long Beach. While not as busy as Tonsai Village, it hosts a fair selection of budget and mid-range bungalow resorts and still has shopping opportunities, though they are scarcer and scarcer as you get nearer to Long Beach. Tonsai East is also famous for its large eateries that host nightly entertainment. Venues like Carpe Diem or Hippies Bar are long-established popular places to dine and party at night.
Beach-wise, Tonsai East features a 500m-long strip of white sand. A convenient walkway parallel to the beach lets you enjoy wonderful views out over Tonsai Bay and Koh Phi Phi Leh in the distance. If you don’t feel up to the 15-minute stroll into Tonsai Village, you can catch a water taxi to the pier. There’s also a path that leads to Phi Phi Viewpoint and Loh Dalum at the foot of the hill that separates Tonsai Village from Tonsai East.
