Tonsai East Restaurants & Nightlife
Where to Eat & What to Do at Night in Tonsai East
Tonsai East is more chilled out than previous years, the 'bucket-and-beer' scene appears to be moving to the Loh Dalum side of the island, leaving this part a quieter but certainly no less attractive alternative for a night underneath the stars.
Bora Bora
Previously the wildly successful Hippies restaurant/bar, Bora Bora is doing a sterling job of keeping the flames of Party Politics on Tonsai East burning bright. For a start there is a free salad bar and free daily soup with your meal from 18:30 – 22:00 followed by promotion after promotion. The background music can get a little overpowering but that depends on your tastes and where you sit. This is more of an afterhours partying place than a restaurant but that’s not to say that you can’t enjoy a simple meal here, chatting with the friendly but slightly spacey staff. Bora Bora even offers free drinks later on if you produce a copy of their promotional flyer.

Carpe Diem
The legendary Carpe Diem beach bar and restaurant is a popular daytime chillout spot and by night a popular party bar, famous for its nightly fireshow. International and Thai food is available daytime and evenings provided by the neighbouring Phi Phi Villa Resort restaurant.

Type : Breakfast, lunch and dinner, international and Thai, nightly events
Chukit Lovely
What’s in a name? Does Chukit make you want to, after eating there? Well, this 120-cover alfresco and covered hotel restaurant could do with a facelift and is pretty gloomy both inside and out. Not wishing to break the mould of the beachfront theme of international and Thai food served from morning to night, Chukit serves exactly the same fare as its neighbours, only in much more lugubrious circumstances. Your call.
Opening Hours: 08:00-22:00Location: Tonsai East
Cuisine: International and Thai
Legacy
A neat-looking restaurant, also beachside, with those great views of Phi Phi Ley that are exclusive to Tonsai East. Legacy doesn’t break new ground but it is a decent place to eat breakfast lunch or dinner. Pretty cool sounds (think Jack Johnson, Tracey Chapman) and attractive lighting are two factors that distinguish it from the rest of the pack.
Opening Hours: 08:00-23:00Location: Tonsai East, at Phi Phi Andaman Legacy Resort
Remarks: Fire show at 23:00
Cuisine: International and Thai
Rimlay
A big, 120-cover restaurant lining the beach and the Rimlay Resort, there are some interesting deals here such as a grilled half-chicken with veggies and priced-per-kilo seafood but don’t expect intimacy, chamber music or haute cuisine. Basic stuff at not unfriendly prices.
Opening Hours: 08:00 – 23:00Location: Tonsai East
Type : Grill, international and Thai
