Tonsai East Area Guides
Everything you Need to Know about Tonsai East Area
Tonsai East can be considered the beach area past the gloriously named Chukit Resort leading to Long Beach. While not as busy as Tonsai Village it still has shopping opportunities (but scarcer and scarcer the nearer to Long Beach you get) and several large eateries that host nightly entertainment.
The one great advantage of this stretch is the array of wonderful views out over the bay and Phi Phi Leh. If you don’t feel up to the 15-minute stroll into Tonsai you can catch a water taxi to the pier.
Where to Stay in Tonsai
Tonsai has bags of budget and midrange accommodation but not many top end places. Phi Phi Cabana is one of the best hotels in Phi Phi, it's right on the beach with excellent facilities including direct beach access to both Tonsai and Loh Dalum beaches. Phi Phi Casita is a smart modern resort a little back from the Loh Dalum Beach towards the east end.
Tonsai East Restaurants & Nightlife
This is a two-headed monster. Restaurants that are calm by day erupt at night into noisy fire-dancing, beer-and-bucket swilling arenas where people get down and boogie on the sand.

Tonsai East Shopping
One thing’s for sure: if you need a silly hat, Tonsai East has them in large quantities in its stalls and shops. Apart from that, you’ll find convenience stores with elevated prices and lots and lots of stalls selling Phi Phi holiday ‘essentials’.
