Tonsai Village Nightlife

Where to Go at Night in Tonsai Village - Phi Phi Island

It’s legendary, it’s noisy and it’s a lot of fun, Phi Phi nightlife has acquired a worldwide image of being hedonistic, bucket-fuelled and late.

All of the above applies so be prepared for some pretty late nights and mornings and for waking up, wondering why there’s sand in your hair and just how you found your way back to your room/bungalow last night.

Banana Rooftop Bar

Phi Phi’s only rooftop bar, the staircase leading up is reason enough not to drink too much at this hip venue. What goes up must come down but at what velocity is up to you. Good DJ (who takes requests) playing everything from Indie Rock, House, Breaks, Beats and Electro, nice friendly vibe, no over-the-top prices and lots of fun activities such as a rooftop telescope and sheesha (hookah) pipes in ‘chill-out huts’, there’s even a daily acoustic music set from 17:00 – 20:00.

  • Opening Hours: 16:00 – Late
  • Location: Central Tonsai
  • Type: Clubby

Carlito’s

Carlito’s restaurant/bar is one of Phi Phi’s longest-lasting drinking holes and a veritable hive of activity. With Full Moon and Black Moon parties, a large dance floor, a broad repertoire of music and of course bucket after bucket of liquor and mixers, it’s quite the place to be.

Even the entrance of Carlito’s is fascinating, with a multiple signpost showing the distances to far-off destinations. With fireshows every night (usually about 22:00) and the whole place packed with just about every nationality under the sun, Carlito’s is where it’s at on the island if you are a party person.

  • Opening Hours: 12:00 – 02:00
  • Location: On the way out of Tonsai Village towards Tonsai East and Long Beach

Dojo Bar

With its all-wooden seating and colourful interior Dojo is an attractive place to knock back a few. Take in some sports on the large-screen TV or simply people watch at this open-sided bar.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00 – late
  • Location: Opposite Bank of Ayudhya

Dubliner Irish Pub

Right in the centre of things, Dubliner Irish Pub is frenetic some nights, merely mad busy on others. With an in-house DJ and occasional live Irish music plus a bar at which everyone faces each other, socialising has never been so easy. An extremely popular pub, you can choose to dance, hang out at the bar, play pool, go upstairs to literally chill out or people watch outside.

Dubliner doesn’t miss much as it celebrates Full Moon parties plus major sports events are televised, there’s a ‘football’ table and it’s about the only air-conditioned place around. Be careful though; if you’re traveling on a budget don’t order a pint of Guinness without checking out the price first.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00 – Late
  • Location: Central Tonsai by Reggae Bar
  • Type: Irish Pub

Deco Bar

Deco Bar is a chill-out bar where conversation is rated more important than busting your ear drums. This makes the place fairly unique, considering almost every other nightspot in Central Tonsai has music cranked up to 12 on the volume control.

  • Location: Central Tonsai, above Phi Phi Scuba Diving
  • Type: Chill

Rolling Stoned Bar

True to its suggestive name, Rolling Stoned is full of Rolling Stones fans… Not. Expect dim lights, floor cushions, loud rock on the sound system and bleary eyes. With four pool tables and good live music (in high season) Rolling Stoned has a lot going for it. It’s one of Phi Phi’s most popular and long-lasting bars.

  • Opening Hours: 17:00 – Late
  • Location: Central Tonsai
  • Type: Chill, rock

Stockholm Syndrome

Established in the nightlife corner of Tonsai Village, near Reggae, Dojo, Dubliner and other lively water holes, Stockholm Syndrome is a great place to have fun at night in Phi Phi. Featuring two storeys, most of the action happens on the ground level – on beer pong tables, pool tables and a small dance floor – while the second floor is a quiet and comfortable lounge. The atmosphere at Stockholm Syndrome is really festive, and the staff and management are very friendly. Drink prices are on par with usual rates on Phi Phi.

  • Opening Hours: 14:00 – late
  • Location: In the same area as Reggae Bar
